Rule of Law in Liberia - USAID Program

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Liberia is seeking applications from U.S. non governmental and non US non-governmental to implement the program entitled "Rule of Law".

The Grantee will be required to develop and implement an actionable strategy utilizing a results-oriented approach to build rule of law sector capacity throughout existing Liberian institutions, thereby increasing the responsiveness of the sector to the needs of the public.  In addition, the Grantee will help the Government of Liberia (GoL) promote greater rights awareness among the public and improve access to rule of law institutions in targeted communities.

As USAID/Liberia's Democracy and Governance Rule of Law program is currently providing support to various institutions in the RoL sector, applicants must take into account ongoing programs to identify potential synergies with future program plans. Considering the current, rather fractured, status of the sector and noting the unpredictability of Liberia's political situation, especially given the impending 2011 elections, applicants must take into consideration the critical assumptions listed in this strategy, which may affect the implementation of the recommendations contained herein.

The closing date to submit applications is 18 February 2011. For more information, visit grants.gov and search by Funding Opportunity Number for "669-11-001."
